The matching results page shows every image-to-variant pairing and every image that matched nothing, before anything is written to your store. Review it, correct it, then press Start upload.
The matched images table
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Thumbnail | Google Drive only |
| Image name | The file as it is in the folder |
| Image size / MP | Shown in red if over Shopify’s limits |
| Position | The order parsed from the file name (0 = first) |
| Variant | Click to edit the product inside the app; the app re-matches automatically afterwards |
| Identifier | The value the image matched on |
| Alt text | Exactly what will be written to Shopify |
| ✕ | Unmatch: removes the pairing before upload |
Non-matched images
Every image that matched nothing is listed with the identifier the app expected to find.
- Export downloads the complete list as CSV (
Image name, Image size, Expected SKU). The tables show at most 5,000 rows each; the counters and CSV cover everything. - Match manually lets you pick a product for an image. If the product has one variant, the image is attached to that variant too.
Buttons
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Match again | Re-reads the folder and re-runs matching. Use it after renaming files. |
| Clear cache | Also reloads your Shopify catalog. Use it after editing SKUs, barcodes, titles or metafields. |
| Start upload | Queues the upload job for the list exactly as shown. |
Matching results are kept for 2 hours. If the page has been open longer, press Match again first.
How images attach to products and variants
- Every image is uploaded to the product’s media gallery.
- The first image of each variant (lowest order number) is also set as that variant’s image.
- Further images of the same variant stay in the product gallery.
Exceptions:
- Products with only a default variant get images at product level only. The log says so.
- With Don’t attach images to variants turned on in Settings, step 2 is skipped.
Alt text
Alt text is set on every uploaded image. By default it is the variant title, meaning the product title plus option values (e.g. Basic Tee / Blue / M), or the product title for single-variant products. Other formats can be configured for your store.
During and after the upload
The job page shows:
- Status:
pending→running→finished, finished with errorsorfailed. - A live progress percentage and uploaded/total counters.
- A per-image log with the identifier, the alt text and a link to the variant, plus a clear reason for any failure.
The same log is emailed when the job finishes (you can add more recipients in Settings). You can close your browser: jobs run in the background and resume after a restart.
Jobs that end with errors are retried automatically, and a retry only processes the images that failed. Successful images are never uploaded twice.
What you’ll see in Shopify
- New images in each product’s gallery, in the order of the file-name suffixes.
- The first image of each variant set as its variant image.
- Alt text exactly as shown in the preview.
- The files under Content → Files with their original names.
