Changelog

What’s new in Smart Bulk Image Upload. Updates roll out automatically: there is nothing to install or re-authorise, and your settings, connections and past jobs carry over untouched.

  1. Latest

The app now speaks 15 languages

    • NewThe app is now available in Arabic, Azerbaijani, German, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Norwegian Bokmål, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Swedish, Turkish and Chinese (Simplified), including upload logs and emails.
    • NewAI matching (beta) reads messy file names the way a person would. Different separators, extra words or image numbers no longer stop a match.
    • ImprovedMatching is dramatically faster on large catalogs. The full catalog now loads in a single bulk operation, which also clears the timeout that could hit very large stores.
    • ImprovedLong uploads are no longer interrupted by an expiring session. A multi-hour batch now runs to the end on its own.
    • FixedLarge uploads now ride out Shopify's file rate limits instead of failing, backing off and retrying automatically.
    • ImprovedMoved to the current Shopify Admin API version.
  2. Faster uploads and jobs that pick up where they left off

    • ImprovedA rebuilt upload pipeline downloads the next images while the current ones are uploading, measurably shortening large jobs.
    • NewProgress is saved per image. If a worker restarts, the job resumes exactly where it stopped and never re-uploads an image.
    • NewShared-file deduplication: when the same image belongs to many products, it is uploaded once and reused. Available on request.
    • NewEach finished job reports a timing breakdown in its log.
    • ImprovedCatalog caching makes repeat matching much faster.
    • NewDetailed matching diagnostics: support can record a full trace of a matching run and explain any surprising match.
  3. Cleaner alt text

    • NewAlt text can be trimmed before it is written, so path-like metafield values don't end up in your SEO text.
  4. Keep replaced images instead of deleting them

    • NewDon't delete replaced images from Files: in replace mode, old images are detached but kept in Content → Files.
  5. Matching for catalogs that share identifiers

    • NewMulti-product and multi-variant matching: several products or variants sharing a SKU, barcode or title can all receive the image. Available on request.
  6. Narrow a run to one collection

    • NewMatching can be limited to a chosen collection, which is faster and more focused on large catalogs. Available on request.
  7. More control over identifiers and alt text

    • NewA wider set of per-store matching and alt-text rules, so unusual naming can be handled by configuration instead of renaming files.
    • ImprovedMore flexible plan handling for stores that need a custom arrangement.
  8. Replace mode made predictable

    • FixedIn replace mode a product's images are cleared exactly once per job, right before its first new image.
    • ImprovedThe app remembers the folder you last used.
  9. Faster repeat matching

    • ImprovedYour catalog is cached between matching runs, with a Clear cache button for when you've just edited products.
  10. Billing you can see

    • ImprovedAfter a downgrade, the paid plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, and the app shows that date.
  11. Identifier clean-up rules

    • NewStore identifiers can be trimmed before comparison (for example, dropping everything after the first dash), so images named after a parent code still match. Available on request.
  12. One image, several variants

    • NewThe same image can be attached to several variants of a product. Available on request.
  13. Match on a metafield

    • NewMatching by product or variant metafield, ideal when image codes come from an ERP or supplier system.
  14. Product-level uploads

    • NewDon't attach images to variants: upload everything to the product gallery and leave variant images alone.
  15. Dropbox support

    • NewDropbox joins Google Drive as an image source.
    • NewEach job records whether it ran in replace mode.
  16. Smart Bulk Image Upload launches

    • NewBulk image upload from a Google Drive folder, matching each file to a product or variant by SKU or barcode.
    • NewA full preview before anything is written to your store.
    • NewImage ordering from the file name (SKU_0, SKU_1, SKU_2…), with the first image set as the variant image.
    • NewAutomatic alt text on every uploaded image, and background jobs with live progress and email reports.
